Our Homes
Frequently Asked Questions
Honest answers to the questions families ask us most — about funding, referrals, tours, and how admissions work. Don’t see yours? We’re only a phone call away.
Who pays for living at one of your homes?
We are Medi-Cal funded, which means we bill through third party providers such as Partnership Health Plan of California and Kaiser Permanente. For most families, this means there is no out-of-pocket cost for residential care.
What if my loved one has not been awarded Medi-Cal benefits?
If Medi-Cal has not yet been awarded, applicants can explore coverage through CoveredCA and check eligibility on the Sonoma County health benefits website. We’re glad to point you in the right direction.
How do I get on the waiting list for one of your homes?
There’s no traditional “waiting list” like a standard housing provider. Placements come through the North Bay Regional Center as referrals. To begin, referral materials can be sent to Office@DuMolinHomes.com.
What is a Regional Center, and what if we’re not a member?
Regional Centers are nonprofit corporations that contract with the California Department of Developmental Services to coordinate services for individuals with developmental disabilities in their area. DuMolin Community Living is served by the North Bay Regional Center (NBRC). In order to become a resident with us, services via NBRC must be established. To set up services, please contact the North Bay Regional Center: apply for services, email intake@nbrc.net, or call their Referral Coordinator at (833) 264-4335.
Can we come take a look at the home?
Yes! We warmly welcome house tours as part of the admissions process, once we have received the client referral to our facility. Seeing a home in person — meeting staff and housemates — is one of the best ways to know if it’s the right fit. Just give us a call to arrange a visit.
How do admissions work?
Once a referral is received, the process typically includes reviewing referral materials, an in-person dinner visit, an overnight stay to make sure it’s a good match, and then finalizing a move-in date. We take care to make every step comfortable for the prospective resident.
Who handles money for personal and incidental spending?
Each resident has an assigned representative payee. This role can be occupied by a family member or trusted party, or responsibility can be transferred to third party financial institutions, such as New Leaf Solutions, or Tsunami Enterprises, depending on what works for the family. Both DuMolin and NBRC can assist with this process.
How do I get in touch?
